Now, more about November!

Here is a glance at what we have been up to during November!

We continue to earn "alphabits" when we are doing expected behaviors (such as following directions, listening, doing kind things for friends, etc.)  Each time we earn 100 we get to have a celebration.  This month we enjoyed bringing stuffed animals to celebrate!

We continued our work with letters this month. So far we have been learning about the formation and sound that certain uppercase letters make.We have almost learned all of the uppercase letters. Through whole group writing and small group work we have been practiced our skills with these letters.

During math we have been practicing counting, recognizing, and writing letters to ten. In the picture above we are sorting dominoes by counting the dots and then placing them by the appropriate number. We have also been looking at shapes, both 2D and 3D.

In science we have been learning about the four seasons. Through sharing ideas and getting crafty we have enjoyed comparing the four seasons.

In the forest we were able to see the various changes that happen throughout the season of fall. We went from exploring colorful leaves to playing in the slippery snow! Our clothing needs also changed as we swapped our rain pants for full snow gear to stay warm. We're thankful for the fire and warm snacks/beverages more than ever before.

We have been focusing on kindness in the classroom. As a class we have been thinking of ways to be kind, or how to "fill someone's bucket". One afternoon we made friendship cards for our friends as a kind act.

We also had Kindness Critters come to our class to help us remember kindness. When they notice kindness they come out visit us. The critters will be around to help us with whatever skills we're working on!

Before we left for Thanksgiving vacation we finished our Giving Project. Earlier in the month we made turkey collection bags and placed them at Jake's Quechee Market. We were learning about the idea of giving and how good it can feel to help others. We were amazed to see how kind and thoughtful community members were as we sorted and organized all of the donations so that we could give them to the Upper Valley Haven. Thank you to Jake's Quechee Market for allowing us to collect in your store and thank you to our wonderful community for donating so much!
