Forest Friday, November 8th

The day that it snowed!

"I hope to see snow." -Strong Salamander
"I hope to play under my tree." -Cheery Chipmunk

We wrote our forest journals in the morning, thinking about what we hope to see or do in the forest. We now have several high frequency words on our word wall that will help us remember how to spell them.  These words are I, a, the, and see.

Our forest was a little different this Friday. There was a coating of ice/snow in some places which made it slick, especially on the benches in the amphitheater.

During play time we had a great time exploring in the cold. Some of us hammered and even dug into old trees. Others carried large planks or wood or made houses with the help of rakes and shovels. One classic game that many of us love to play is dinosaurs.

For snack we had warm chicken noodle soup. It was good to keep our hands and bodies warm. We got to eat some crackers with the soup.

We took a long walk back to school. It was tricky in some spots because of fallen trees and we had to navigate over, under, or around in some spots.

We are looking forward to the projects that we will begin in the forest soon. We are hoping to make a forest alphabet book and a forest counting book!
