October is Over!

Here is a little glimpse at what we have been up to this month!

Each morning we come into the classroom and answer the morning question. Sometimes we look at patterns, other times we count objects and write the number. We are practicing taking turns and waiting patiently to write on the board.
Our morning work gives us the chance to practice various skills. We practice letter recognition, pattern creation, numeral formation, and finger strengthening.

Firefighter Taylor joined us for a fire safety lesson. We learned about his gear and why it's important to be safe around fires. We will have several other lessons with him throughout the year.

During our math time we have been learning about how to write our numbers. Sometimes we get to write them in a fun way, like in shaving cream! We also practiced drawing shapes in the shaving cream.

Sometimes our bodies need to move and wiggle. We take brain breaks during certain parts of our day. With GoNoodle we earn points after each video that we do. Our "Champion" grows stronger each time we participate. The goal is for the brain breaks to help us get our sillies out so that we can focus during learning time.

This month we had a lot of fun with watercolor painting. There were sometimes mystery words or designs that we had to discover with the paint. On apples we found our names and closer to Halloween we found spider webs.

In the forest we embraced the amazingness of fall. We cooked, found colorful leaves for projects, played, and discovered the changes that happen during that season.

On Fridays after we come inside from the forest, we often meet with our buddy class in 3rd grade. They bring books to read to us. We love this time with our book buddies!
