This morning we wrote about the forest on a page that will go into our Kindergarten Memory Journals.  We wrote carefully and were quickly able to think about what we love about of Forest Fridays.

On our way to the forest we stopped by the garden.  Mr. Sadowski showed us the asparagus that we would use in our snack.  The garden club (which includes some of us!) has been working hard to transform the garden.

From our sit spots we were able to notice many things with our senses.  We shared around the fire about hearing birds, feeling the wet ground, and seeing blue sky.

We made a lot of discoveries throughout the day.  On our walk up we found slugs and a centipede.  We carefully moved the critters off of the path so they were out of harms way.  Up around the fire we found little pinecones and a spider with a sack of eggs on its back!

The play time today was so great.  We played nicely with one another and found some new fun things to do.  Some of us played on a teeter-totter that we had made using a plank of wood and a chopped log.  We were able to fit five friends (including Miss Wetzel!) and it was a lot of fun.
Some others made a "Woodsy Band" and jammed together with sticks on a fallen tree.  They had many successful performances.

For snack we helped to make a frittata.  It had eggs, peppers, asparagus, and some chicken sausage.  We all tried it and some of us thought it was the tastiest snack we've had yet!

At the end of the day we got the chance to handle the chicks!  Some of us were so calm and quiet that the chicks came over and explored our hands and even hopped on to us.
We loved having the experience of watching these chicks develop and grow through the month.  We had seven chicks in all.
