Forest Friday, November 22nd

The day that we made donuts!

"I hope to see a slug."
 "I hope to dig."
"I hope to see a salamander."
"I hope to see a puddle."
"I hope to build."

In our forest journals we thought about what we were hoping to see or do in the forest. We are working on thinking of ideas on our own, stretching out words to hear sounds, and even writing some sight words (like "see" and "a").

For snack we had donuts! We helped in the morning to peel apart rolls and then cut a hole in the center. In the forest they were fried in oil over the fire and then bounced around in a bag of cinnamon sugar (thanks to our snack helpers.) We didn't like them... we loved them!

During play time we had a lot of good exploring going on. Some of us worked on moving round objects uphill using various strategies, such as using a stick as a lever. Others dug around an old, dead tree. We noticed that the bottom of the tree was getting a little thinned so we will not be digging at that part anymore. We don't want it to fall like a Jenga tower! Some of us were playing pretend at split rock, creating a car in the slippery snow. With the little snow that we have, others were making small cakes and snowmen.

We wonder what our forest space will look like when we come back from our Thanksgiving vacation!
