Forest Friday, September 13th

The day that we picked goods from the garden!

We stopped by the school garden on our way up to the forest. We picked some goods that we planned to cook for snack. All of the vegetables were pulled from underground including purple potatoes, gold beets, and orange carrots.

Many of us remembered where our sit spots were without any help! We stayed very quiet and then shared what we observed with our five senses. Some of us saw trees, touched logs, and heard birds.

In the forest we practice many important skills. One skill that is practiced so much is teamwork. You can see it here with two friends working together to move a large piece of wood.

Some of us helped to prepare snack by cutting and up the vegetables to be cooked over the fire. They were so yummy that many had seconds and even thirds!

We made lots of discoveries while outside today. We found mushrooms, little critters like slugs, colorful leaves, and so many acorns!

The end of our forest day included some lunch outside. We spread out in the sunshine and enjoyed the fresh air while we chatted. It was a great day!
